Yorkie Puppy Cut

Grooming a clean Yorkie without mats or tangles will make the Yorkie grooming job a lot easier. Using a
good shampoo and cream rinse are important.  Be sure to rinse thoroughly, this is very important.   Trim
Yorkie nails after a bath.  The Yorkie nails are softer when wet, and will cut easier and cleaner.  Start with
the #40 blade for the top half of the Yorkie ears.  Change the blade to a #30 to do your yorkie's anal area,
genitalia, pads of feet and between the back legs.  Change the blade to a #3 for your yorkie's body and legs
starting directly behind the head.  Work from the back to the front, top to bottom of the Yorkie.  Clip
against the growth of the hair to give a smooth finished look and avoid "tracking" marks.

Now for your Yorkie's Head.  With the Yorkie facing you, comb the hair above the eyes forward making
bangs.  Scissor straight across and comb back into place.  Comb the hair down on the muzzle and cut an
upside down V between the eyes close to the head.  This will keep the hair out of the eyes.  Do not cut too
far down the muzzle. Starting beside the eye, comb outward and hold the hair in place with your index and
middle finger of your free hand.  Scissor close to your fingers on the outside of the hair you are holding.
Working your way to the top of the yorkie's head, repeat the process, making your scissoring curved as you
go around. Scissor your way around the other side.  Work from side to side, and also front of the head to
the back. When you comb the hair out, once done, all the hair on the head should be of the same ending
point making it look like a full circle. The hair in front and behind the ears should only be as long as they
meet the lower end of the shaved tip of the ear.  Fan the hair on the edges of the ear tips that you shaved
with the #40 blade, and scissor as close to the ear leather as safely possible. Turn the Yorkie to the side and
comb and scissor in a curve from the back of the jaw line to the front.  Repeat on the other side. With the
Yorkie facing you once again, comb the hair on the chin downward and scissor from one side to the other.
Once finished, the Yorkie's head should look like a circle with two little ears sticking out on top.
